 MAD TV...

I was watching MAD TV and they were busting on Sanford and son.
The skit was Fred and Lamont in the living room arguing about something.. and all of the sudden three oriental kids burst through the door and yell this is a robbery.
Fred grabs his heart and says, this is the big one, I'm commin' Elizabeth, I'm being robbed by a guy that isn't tall enough to ride the roller coaster!

Work smart and keep a good supply of Twizzlers!

OK, this is for Shirl, you wanted pictures of everyones work desk.. well this is my desk while I am on the road, it almost always looks the same, no matter what city I am in...

Well this is what my desk looks like in Oklahoma, next week it will be in some other city, but it will look the same. My desk at home is pretty clean, and the reason is simple, I am never there..

My cocktail, I wonder why they call them cocktails, sounds like a cloneing experiment gone bad, like they tried to clone a rooster with a bobcat "the darn thing has sex with them and then he eats 'em"
Now the hens bring him breakfast in bed (lol)

You see my cigar tubes, just one in a long list of bad habbits I have, in fact if you were to put all my bad habbits in alphabetical order, we would only be in the "C's" after Acohol and Blogging!
by the time I get to the T's, I need a nap!

I know its a mess but its my mess, and that's good enough for me... Wait! my watch is missing and there is some mail on the table that doesn't have my name on it... you know what.. I have to go, I'm in the wrong apartment...

See ya, J.

Veterans War Memorial in Baton Rough

I ventured out yesterday to see the sights, turns out there is only one. But it happened to be a good one.
The Veterans Memorial and museum has a $3,000,000 model collection of boats, planes and other military machines.
They were really nice, a little more than my model car collection when I was a kid!

They were very serious about this, they had "keep your kids under controll" signs all over the place.

This is Mr.Leroy, he actually served on The Kidd when he was a young man. He said he was a kid on the Kidd. He was a really nice guy and he knew all about this boat. If you look next to him there is a picture of him on the boat and his service picture.
He said when he was in the Navy, no one would give him the time of day, and now
"I'm as famous as John Wayne". I shook his hand and thanked him for his service to our country, I told him about my Dad, and his service in WWII and Pearl Harbor, He was glad to hear about his brother in arms.. (chokes me up a little)

This is the USS KIDD, Fletcher class destroyer, launched 1943 and has been all over the world, The Kidd was named after Rear Admiral Isaac C Kidd who was killed on the Arizona during the surprise attack at Pearl Harbor.
It looks like it is drydocked, but the Mississippi river rises 42 feet during different times of the year, sometimes it's a float and sometimes it just sits in the craddle, says
Mr.Leroy.

Imagine the explosion this depth charge made when it went off in the water! It looks like a giant hand grenade.

Imagin, depth charges exploding trying to destroy submarines, these big guns thundering away at the Japanese planes Strafing the boat with 50mm guns! it must have been a crap your pants experience! Mr.Leroy said that when the big guns went off it actually re-coiled the boat back and forth!

Like I said, the battles must have scared the crap out of you!
These boys even shared the reading room experience!
I never asked why one seat was red, I did notice that everything was organized according to class, as it was in the the days of Christopher Columbus...
As evidence here, not one single square inch of space was wasted on the ship!

The Mighty Mississippi, and that big ass bridge I had to cross to get here! That darn bridge gave me the heebie-jeebies all the way over and I knew I had to cross back over it when I left the Memorial.. they towed the KIDD in this river to get it here, with a bigger boat that's how deap the Mississippi river is...!

Well said... there was a bunch of these, but I liked this one the best so I posted it.

This is the old court house, I never did find the new one, but man it must be something.
The city had references to the "Kingfish" all over town and signs that said " Huey P Long lives because Baton Rough Lives".
It is said that Governor Long used to answer the phone with "Kingfish?"

 Welcome to Baton Rough Louisiana!

When I got to town they told me my hotel was right down the road, well.. right down the road in this city, could be a few minutes or all f**king day. The trafic is the worst I have ever seen in my life, Atlanta has pretty bad traffic, but only part of the day, here it is all day, even on weekends it sucks.

Me and the guy in front of sat here for 9 minutes, trying to make a left turn, the trafic stopped, but they blocked the intersection. this was Saturday about 2:00 in the afternoon.

This is the city, I went out to find some cool stuff to take pictures of and this was it.

This was a little strip mall up the road, the whole city looks like this.

This was petty cool, I haven't seen a McDonalds this old since I was a kid.

Baton Rough is french for red stick, it turns out that a french explorer called D'Iberville showed up on his boat one day and found a cypress pole covered with fish and animal heads, turning the pole red with blood, marking the hunting bounderies of the local native americans, I would have turned around and went back!
Huey P Long coined Baton Rough as Joie de vive (joy of living).
Personally, I can't wait to leave, its foggy in the morning and 250 degrees by 3:00.
