 Welcome to Baton Rough Louisiana!
Back to Full Blog

When I got to town they told me my hotel was right down the road, well.. right down the road in this city, could be a few minutes or all f**king day. The trafic is the worst I have ever seen in my life, Atlanta has pretty bad traffic, but only part of the day, here it is all day, even on weekends it sucks.

Me and the guy in front of sat here for 9 minutes, trying to make a left turn, the trafic stopped, but they blocked the intersection. this was Saturday about 2:00 in the afternoon.

This is the city, I went out to find some cool stuff to take pictures of and this was it.

This was a little strip mall up the road, the whole city looks like this.

This was petty cool, I haven't seen a McDonalds this old since I was a kid.

Baton Rough is french for red stick, it turns out that a french explorer called D'Iberville showed up on his boat one day and found a cypress pole covered with fish and animal heads, turning the pole red with blood, marking the hunting bounderies of the local native americans, I would have turned around and went back!
Huey P Long coined Baton Rough as Joie de vive (joy of living).
Personally, I can't wait to leave, its foggy in the morning and 250 degrees by 3:00.

Downtown Atlanta is a hoot..The Underground etc.etc.etc. To bad you did
not get to see Downtown Atlanta. I was stopped on the beltway for 4 hours once, and another time it took 2 hours to go 4 miles in a tropical
storm that took residence over Atlanta..My sister lives in Marietta and
after 5 trips down I now refuse to drive there to visit her..just because of the traffic.

I'm going to be here for two weeks, so I hope I find more interesting things about this city, the people that live here love this place, so there has to be something to it..

You know TAB, I love Atlanta, I lived there for several years and it's one of my three favorite cities.
Atlanta, GA
Charlotte, NC
Nashville, TN
in that order...

see- you need to take some time and to New Orleans...the best thing about Baton Rouge - just sixty miles. I don't have to cross that scary ass bridge to get there

Candabear, I am going to the Mississippi river this weekend for some pics, and on Friday I am going to leave early so I can see a little bit of New Orleans before I go. I am going to close my eyes as I cross that long ass bridge, wish me luck, but the way these people drive, no one will notice me driving with my eyes closed!
