 Live earth concert!
Back to Full Blog

OK, it's late and I was getting ready to go to bed, I was scanning channels and I found Live Earth concert, I thought well, I'll check it out for a minute.
They had a commercial with a bunch of kids saying stuff like we have to stop polluting the air... we are killing the ozone, with clips from Al Gore's movie.
Well, first of all... kids... do you know how much energy it took to put on this concert or make that commercial?

For Sting(k) to do his thing with all that giant video behind him, do you think he brought some electricity with him, or anybody else that performed, maybe they had it as a carry-on on that private jet they flew in on.. I wonder how much energy that plane used..?

Alright, lets stop all the "pollution" that people are creating, lets start with heat, air conditioning, batteries of any kind, that means no more video games, cellphones, Ipods or TV!

We should stop all industry too, that would mean no more CD's or plastics or iron or chemicals. Now we are down to eating cold food, which has to be eaten raw because you can't cook it, and what are you eating? Meat? Yes you are, well how are you going to kill it? No industry means no bullets, you will have to make your own arrows or spears, and vegetables that are grown without any pesticides because that is a chemical which has to be produced by a factory, oh and by the way, half of all the vegitables you grow will be eaten by insects without those pesticides.
Oh and, those clothes that make you so popular in school, forget those too, they were also made in a factory, do you realize how much energy it takes to make clothes too small for girls and too big for boys?

Energy has to be created with hydro-electric plants, fossil fuel or nuclear electric stations, would you be willing to live like a caveman (literally)? then you have a voice, if not, go to school and get a degree so you can help, otherwise you are just noise, remember, information is knowledge, therefore good...

Ask the people that performed at that concert what they would be willing to give up, my crib would be my cave. Ask them if they would give up their "bling" to set an example for the rest of the world, I know the answer and so do you!
Our lives are made better and more "convenient" by industry and that has a by-product that we have to deal with.
Don't knock on my door with a $1200 suit and ask me to give to the poor! and that is what the the million dallar people from Hollywood are doing!
Have you ever seen the show Cribs? Do you know what it cost in energy to run a house like that? Don't get me wrong, if someone can go out and make a nice living out of being a singer (and I use the term loosely) then, go for it, that's what makes this country great!
If you want to put on a concert to tell people how bad it is for the earth because we drive cars, than walk to the concert with your instruments on your back!

Pay attention or pay the price!

J! This is good! This is GOOD!!

No one is going to give up their cushioned life to save anything or anyone! It is a fact that people want to bitch about everything but have nothing really to contribute physically, psychologically or willingly!

They will continue to drive to these environmental functions.
Why? Because they themselves are so pampered and so out of shape that they cannot walk to them.

I used to spend a lot of time out in the gardens but I can no longer breath the air. I am forced to hover inside my home.
I do drive to work but it is five miles away as there is no mass transit available for me. I cannot walk to work because of the air.
So I give restitution for myself, by myself!

In our little town, it is being so over-built that we are on water restrictions so that they can accomadate toilet flushings and baths.
I personally don't drink the water because it stinks.
There are so many chemicals they use to kill the recycled sludge it is unbearable sometimes even to take a shower.
These chemicals for treating water is just as bad for the air as in-ground pool treatment!

Ok, I am off my beat for now....

Thanks J....it's not really 'ME' though....I'm not really into fairies. I just liked the artistic look of it. I wanted to use one of my own abstracts I made on the pC but it won't let me.

So when are you going to write the book? BTW..I really like the title!!!

I agree with The J!

There does seem to be a person drowning or is that a shark fin and the only thing left of the guy is his hand? If so, why isn't the water red?

Did all of the other man-placed trash on shore cause the shark to hurt people?

This is a crude and undefinable rendition of the absence of 'Man's Effort To Effect The Laws Available To Him.

Thanks for the 'art' though.....

Oscar, I think that hand and the red stuf is all that's left of the poor sob in the water...

The President isn't elected for free he/she uses energy to produce all those ads. TV, transportation, dvd's, all use energy. How important is awareness of a problem that within our lifetimes could cause the extinction of multiple species and endanger our health? Can you tell the world about this for free? Is any kind of communication that appeals to a world audience possible without the use of the energy it hopes to conserve? I think not. Sad but true, to learn the truth, we have to engage in part of the problem. I forgive them; it is the greater message that we need and when we are all truly literate about our environment's limitations, then we can judge the messenger.

J? I am more than a little confused by this last one too.
Forgive me if I am not reading it correctly????

Nothing in the world is free! Not even Freedom!
There will always be a price, monetary or death!

Don't shoot the messenger, but first we have to know the messenger.
Enemy or Ally, Friend or Foe, Truth or Dare, Intelligence or Money.
The voters are engaged in the problem or they would not (I hope) vote.
Sad but true!
No one can be truly literate about any subject as long as it is an on going problem.

I believe that the environments limitations were outlined by the Natives of this wonderful country a long time ago.

No one listened then and our messengers have long passed away.
Now that we are in this dilemma caused by our own carelessness' we have to deal with the truths, we have already learned them!

Sunshine, too bad you didn't read the rest of my blogs, I covered everything you metioned in your comment.
I just want you to know that I am all for taking care of the enviroment, as a matter of fact, I am going to get on a plane and fly to Colorado, next week to help my friends there protest against fossil fuels. We are going to drive to Denver and march at the capital, and when we are done we are going to have a big BBQ at at my brother's house to say thanks to the many people who participated in the event.
Later in the evening we are all going to join hands and sing "we are the people"
Wish you were there...

Oscar Sue, I read about the native americans and their re-cycle bins outside the TPs, and how they took re-usable sacks to bring buffalo meat back to the tribe.
I saw a show on The History channel about how only the chief was allowed to run his air conditioner during peak usage periods so.. yes...good point.(LOL)

Funny, Brat! *smile*

Do you know how long it took me to figure out what TPs was?
All I could think of was the abbreviation on our shopping list!

WHAT? I didn't think anyone could afford buffalo meat!
However, it may next be the cost solution to beef prices sky rocketing. I don't think they eat corn do they?
Air conditioning? Goodness, that is not cost effective at all! Doesn't it go out the hole in the roof??

Love You,
Oscar Sue (cherokee, lives in house)
